Description of key information

Metal carboxylates such as Fatty acids, tall-oil, manganese salts are substances consisting of a metal cation and a carboxylic acid anion. A complete dissociation resulting in manganese cations and fatty acids, tall-oil anions is observed under environmental conditions. Abiotic degradation is not relevant for manganese cations. Fatty acids as contained in tall oil photodegrade with half-live times in air of < 1 day. Due to the structural properties, hydrolysis is not expected to be an important fate path for fatty acids as contained in tall oil.
