- Details on results:
- Based on the result of range finding study, main study was performed with the test concentration of 4.0, 7.7, 14.6, 27.7, 52.6 and 100 mg/l of iron glycinate along with the control and surrogate groups.
The algal growth (cell density) was assesed at 24, 28 and 72 hours post-exposure. Exponentially g
rowing alga cells (5346 cells/ mL)were eposed to the test concentrations.
The percent growth rate inhibition as compared with the control is found to be 0.54, 0.45, 2.36, 9.47, 31.31 and 100% at the tested concentrations of 0.01, 0.1, 1.0, 10, 50 and 100mg/l respectively.
The percent inhibition is yield as compared with the control is found to be 3.31; 8.52,; 26.05; 85.55; 94.37 and 100% at the tested concentration of 4.0; 7.7; 14.6; 27.7; 52.6; and 100 mg/l respectively.
During the main study exposure, the dose sampes of iron glycinate were analysed for dose f
ormulation for ICP-OES and the result are found to be within the acceptable range of +/_ 20% to the nominal concentration.
Growth rate (ErC10)
The 72h EC10 value for growth rate ErC10 is 14,81 mg/l. The 95% convidence interval value was
found to be lower limit of 12.41 mg/l and upper limit of 17.68 mg/l.
Growth rate (ErC50)
The 72h EC10 value for growth rate ErC50 is 48,53 mg/l. The 95% convidence interval value was
found to be lower limit of 40.78 mg/l and upper limit of 57.74 mg/l.
Yield (EyC10)
The 72h EC10 value for yield EyC10 is 7.11 mg/l (nominal). The 95% convidence interval value was found to be lower limit of 5.23 mg/l and upper limit of 9,67 mg/l.
Yield (EyC50)
The 72h EC50 value for yield EyC50 is 17.43 mg/l (nominal). The 95% convidence interval value was found to be lower limit of 14.36 mg/l and upper limit of 21.15 mg/l.
Applicant's summary and conclusion
- Validity criteria fulfilled:
- yes
- Conclusions:
- EC10=14.81 (growth rate)
EC50=48.53 mg/l (growth rate)
NOEC=4 mg/l
LOEC=7.7 mg/l
