Atm. press.:
1 013 hPa
Decomposition:
yes
Decomp. temp.:
>= 146 °C
Conclusions:
The test item Tris(hydroxymethyl)phosphine oxide (THPO) shows an evaporation of gas under decomposition, starting at 146 °C. No boiling point of the test item could be observed at atmospheric pressure (1013 hPa).
Executive summary:
The boiling point was determined by differential scanning calorimetry and capillary method in a GLP guideline study according to OECD 103 and EU Method A.2. The substance Tris(hydroxymethyl)phosphine oxide (THPO) shows an evaporation of gas under decomposition, starting at 146 °C. No boiling point of THPO could be observed at atmospheric pressure (1013 hPa).

Description of key information

boiling point (determined using EU Method A.2 / OECD 103; GLP):

- no boiling point of the substance Tris(hydroxymethyl)phosphine oxide (THPO) could be observed at atmospheric pressure (1013 hPa);

- THPO showed an evaporation of gas under decomposition, starting at 146 °C

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

The determination of the boiling point was carried out by differential scanning calorimetry and capillary method according to Regulation EC No. 440/2008 Method A.2. and OECD Test Guideline 103 (1995). A reliability score of 1 was assigned, in accordance with the criteria for assigning data quality in line with the principles described by Klimisch (1997).
