Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
guideline study
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
OECD Guideline 102 (Melting point / Melting Range)
Principles of method if other than guideline:
SOP - STR 028
GLP compliance:
no
Type of method:
thermal analysis
Decomposition:
yes
Decomp. temp.:

Conclusions:
The test item is a solid which decomposes before melting.
Executive summary:

Method:

Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC) according to the OECD Test Guidelines 102 and 103.

Results:

Between 25 and 160°C there is a release of imbibition/crystallization water. Between 244-423°C it is registered an exothermic effect (onset 282.3°C, enthalpy = 1673 J/g).

Conclusion:

The test item is a solid which decomposes before melting.

ca. 1 atm
Conclusions:
The calculated melting point of Acid Blue 284:1 is ca. 350°C

Description of key information

Decomposition before melting.

Calculated Melting Point = ca. 350°C

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Melting / freezing point at 101 325 Pa:
350 °C

Additional information

The substance decomposes before melting at temperature above 244 °C (test according OECD 102 Guideline).
