Description of key information

DSD (67/548/EEC): Based on read across studies, the readily biodegradation of the substance and taking into account the provisions laid down in Directive 67/548/EEC the substance is not considered to be classified as dangerous for the environment (to aquatic organisms / in aquatic environment).

GHS/CLP (Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008): Based on the read across studies, the readily biodegradation of the substance and taking into account the provisions laid down in Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008 the substance is considered to be classified as chronic hazardous to the aquatic environment Category 3 (Aquatic Chronic 3  H412).

Classifcation for hazardous to the aquatic environment according to UN-GHS: Aquatic Acute 2 H401 (Toxic to aquatic life.) and Aquatic Chronic 3 H412 (Harmful to aquatic life with long lasting effects.).

Additional information

Fish: Based on read across studies for short term toxicity to fish on chemically similar substances the LC50(fish, 96h) for Fatty acids, C14-18 and C16-18-unsatd., ammonium salts is estimated to be >=21 mg/l.

Daphnia: Based on read across studies for short-term and long-term toxicity to aquatic invertebrates on chemically similar substances, for Fatty acids, C14-18 and C16-18-unsatd., ammonium salts the EC50(daphnia, 48h/24h) is estimated to be >=4.2 mg/l and the NOEC(daphnia, 21d): >=0.11 mg/L.
