Description of key information
Propyl gallate (propyl-3,4,5-trihydroxybenzoate) is a non-combustible, white organic solid having a melting point of 130.0 °C. The boiling point of the substance cannot be determined as decomposition occurs at 260 °C at atmospheric pressure indicated by colour change from white to dark yellow. The relative density of the substance is 1.3541 at 20 °C and the mean diameter (D50 value) of the solid particles is 232.0 µm. Propyl gallate has a low vapour pressure of 0.00003 Pa at 20 °C. The water solubility of the substance is 2.7 g/L at 20 °C and the partition coefficient between octanol and water (log Pow) is 1.8.
