Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

The Pigment Orasol Black X51 (EC no. 939-191-9) is a multipartite chromium complex composed of single complex fractions of azo compounds and amine compounds of the mixtureTridecylamine (TDA), branched and linear (CAS 86089-17-0).

There are experimental data on the readily biodegradability of the complete complex Orasol Black X51 (EC no. 939-191-9) available:

In a study performed according to OECD guideline 301B (CO2 Evolution Test, BASF SE, 2017, Rep. no. 22G0074/16G139), the mean degradation of Orasol Black X51, tested in two concentrations was 3% after 28 days; domestic activated sludge was used as inoculum.

The available data for the complete complex Orasol Black X51 (EC no. 939-191-9) are supported by data on the biodegradation potential of Tridecylamine (TDA), branched and linear (CAS 86089-17-0):

TDA, branched and linear (CAS 86089-17-0) is not readily biodegradable (according to OECD criteria). In a CO2 Evolution Test according to OECD TG 301B, the mean degradation of TDA, tested in two concentrations, was < 10 % after 56 days, indicating poor biodegradability (BASF AG, 2003; rep. no.: 03/0391/36/1); domestic activated sludge was used as inoculum.

Based on the available experimental information Orasol Black X51 (EC no. 939-191-9) is considered to be not readily biodegradable (according to OECD criteria).
