Remarks:
slight irritation observed up to 24 hours after application; fully reversible within 8 days
Irritant / corrosive response data:

The same effects profile was obtained with talcum.

Applicant's summary and conclusion

Interpretation of results:
GHS criteria not met
Conclusions:
In this study, 3-hydroxy-2-methylquinoline-4-carboxylic acid was not irritating to the eyes.
Executive summary:

In a primary eye irritation study, 3-hydroxy-2-methylquinoline-4-carboxylic acid was applied to the eye in rabbits. Animals then were observed for 8 days. Slight irritating effects were observed 1 hour after application by observation of slight conjunctival redness, slight edema and pastel green substance remnants. 24 hours after application, slight conjunctival redness was still observed. 8 days after application, no effects were observed (former effects fully reversed). The same effects profile was obtained with talcum.

In this study, 3-hydroxy-2-methylquinoline-4-carboxylic acid is not an eye irritant.
