Ethyl 3-ethoxypropionate is readily biodegradable (100% mineralisation, CO2 evolution) and mineralisation will be the dominant route of elimination in natural waters. Hydrolysis of the Ester group is of minor relevance and testing for hydrolysis is not indicated.

In the atmosphere Ethyl 3-ethoxypropionate will react with hydroxyl radicals with an elimination half-life of approx 1 day.
