The thermogram shows only endothermic effects. In the lower temperature range up to about 200 °C, this behaviour can be attributed to the evaporation of this volatile compound. At temperatures above 250 °C, another endothermic effect is caused by decomposition into gaseous products.

From these results it can be concluded that Sulphuryl dichloride is not a self-reactive substance as defined by the UN Recommendations on the Transport of Dangerous Goods1, section 2.4.2.3, and the European CLP Directive (No. 1272/2008), Annex I, chapter 2.8.
