Description of key information

There are no studies available investigating the adsorption/desorption behaviour of TRIS HCl as the substance has a low octanol water partition coefficient and the adsorption potential, related to this parameter, is low. Furthermore, the molecule is not expected to adsorb to suspended solids and sediment based upon the log Koc of -0.78 as calculated for the uncharged molecule (EPIWIN v. 4.0, Kowwin estimate).

If the substance is exposed to water, it will not evaporate into the atmosphere from the water surface because of its low vapour pressure of 2.7E-5 Pa (20°C).
