- The aquatic toxicity - Median Lethal Concentration (LC50, mg/L) (v5.0.0.184).The aquatic toxicity module provides the concentration of the test substance in water predicted to be lethal to 50% of the exposed individuals (LC50, mg/L) of the species Fathead minnow (Pimephales promelas). Each LC50 calculation is supported by estimated Reliability Index (RI) which allows evaluation of the quality of predictions and the applicability domain of a corresponding model.

- Conclusions:
- From ACD (Advanced Chemistry Development)/I-Lab predictive module (v5.0.0.184) the predicted Median Lethal Concentration (LC50, mg/L) for fish species Pimephales promelas of the test substance determined to be 360 mg/l on the basis of mortality effects.
- Executive summary:
According to aquatic toxicity module i.eACD/LabsI-Lab 2.0; Algorithm Version: v5.0.0.184 the lethal concentration (LC50) of the test substance 2-methoxybenzoic acid was predicted to be 360 mg/l on fish species Fathead minnow (Pimephales promelas). The reliability Index (RI) of the LC50 calculation for 2-methylanthraquinone was 0.57(As per model substance have moderate and high reliability if RI > 0.5). Thus reported RII value indicate it has moderate reliability. The LC50 value indicates that the 2-methoxybenzoic acid considered as non-toxic to fish and thus can be considered to be not classified as per the CLP criteria.

Additional information
Short term toxicity to fish was summarized with 2 predicted data are as follows:
Using the EPI Suite ECOSAR version 1.11, the short term toxicity on fish was predicted for test substance 2-methoxybenzoic acid (CAS: 579-75-9) on the basis of effects observed in a static freshwater system. The lethal concentration LC50 value for the substance was estimated to be 2783.679 mg/l for fish for 96 hr duration. Based on this value it can be concluded that the 2-methoxybenzoic acid can be considered to be non-toxic to aquatic environment and can be considered as not classified as per the CLP classification criteria.
Based on the predicted data from ACD labs and ECOSAR version 1.11, the toxicity to fish was predicted and based on the values, 2-methoxybenzoic acid (CAS: 579-75-9) was considered to be non-toxic to fish and can be considered to be not classified as per the CLP regulations.
