Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

There are no long-term toxicity to fish studies available for N-1-naphthylanilin. Studies on the short-term toxicity to fish yielded an LC50 value of 0.44 mg/L indicating that fish is equally or even slightly less susceptible to the test substance compared to aquatic invertebrates (48h-EC50 = 0.3 mg/L), for which a chronic study is available (21d-NOEC = 0.02 mg/L). In addition, the ECHA Guidance on information requirements and chemical safety assessment, Chapter R.7b (ECHA, 2012b) states that “chronic fish toxicity testing is generally only necessary, when the P and B criteria are fulfilled” and this is clearly not the case. Hence due to animal welfare reasons and to avoid unnecessary vertebrate tests, no further long-term test with fish is required for N-1-naphthylaniline.
