Description of key information
Additional information
Appearance:
The chemicalsodium 5-(aminosulphonyl)-2-[7-(diethylamino)-2-oxo-2H-1-benzopyran-3-yl] benzoxazole sulphonate (Common Name:Acid Yellow 250) was found to be a yellow colored powder with no peculiar odour.
Melting Point:
The melting point determination of Sodium 5-(aminosulphonyl)-2-[7-(diethylamino)-2-oxo-2H-1-benzopyran-3-yl]benzoxazolesulphonate(CAS No. 93859-32-6)was done following OECD Guideline 102 and according to the metal block capillary method. The test item starts decomposing at 333°upto 335.5°C, with change in colour from yellow to orange and then to black. The test was conducted in replicates and mean decomposition range was found to be 333° C - 335.5°C at 966.25 hPa.
Boiling Point:
The test item sodium 5-(aminosulphonyl)-2-[7-(diethylamino)-2-oxo-2H-1-benzopyran-3-yl] benzoxazole sulphonate (Common Name: Acid Yellow 250) starts decomposing at 333° upto 335.5°C, with change in colour from yellow to orange and then to black. Hence it was not feasible to determine the boiling point.
Density:
The mean density of test item Sodium 5-(aminosulphonyl)-2-[7-(diethylamino)-2-oxo-2H-1-benzopyran-3-yl]benzoxazolesulphonate(CAS No. 93859-32-6)was determined following OECD guideline 109 and according to themethod recommended in the International Pharmacopoeia, fourth Edition, 2014 using bulk density apparatus. The mean pour density and tapped density of the test item was found to be 0.4256g/cm3and 0.5441g/cm3at 32.0oC and 969.0 hPa.
Particle Size Distribution:
The particle size distribution of test item Sodium 5-(aminosulphonyl)-2-[7-(diethylamino)-2-oxo-2H-1-benzopyran-3-yl]benzoxazolesulphonate(CAS No. 93859-32-6)was determined by granulometric analysis with rotap sieve shaker. The particle size distribution was determined to be in the range of 150 micron to 10 micron.
Vapour Pressure:
Modified Grain method was used to estimate the vapour pressure of the test chemical using MPBPVP v1.43 of EPI SUITE
The estimated vapour pressure of chemical Sodium 5-(aminosulphonyl)-2-(7-(diethylamino)-2-oxo-2H-1-benzopyran-3-yl)benzoxazolesulphonate is 2.92E-019 Pa.
It is reported as 0.000000001 Pa for the chemical safety assessment due to the limitation in the field.
Water Solubility:
The water solubility determination of test item sodium 2-(2,3-dihydro-1,3-dioxo-1H-inden-2-yl)quinoline-6-sulphonate (CAS No. 93859-32-6) was determined gravimetrically as per the shake flask method using membrane filtration followed by air drying. The water solubility was found to be 145 g/L at 31.5 °C. This indicates that the test chemical is very soluble in water.
Surface Tension:
In accordance with column 2 of Annex VII of the REACH regulation, this testing needs to be carried out only if surface activity is a desired property of the chemical. The chemical sodium 5-(aminosulphonyl)-2-[7-(diethylamino)-2-oxo-2H-1-benzopyran-3-yl] benzoxazole sulphonate (Common name: Acid Yellow 250) is used as a Fluorescent color. For this use, surface activity is not a desired property and hence this end point was considered for waiver.
Flash Point:
The flash point determination of Sodium 5-(aminosulphonyl)-2-[7-(diethylamino)-2-oxo-2H-1-benzopyran-3-yl]benzoxazole sulphonate(CAS No. 93859-32-6)was done following closed cup method using Pensky-Martens flash point apparatus. The test was conducted in replicates and mean flash point was found to be greater than 250°C at 967.2 hPa
Auto flammability:
The chemical sodium 5-(aminosulphonyl)-2-[7-(diethylamino)-2-oxo-2H-1-benzopyran-3-yl] benzoxazole sulphonate (Common name: Acid Yellow 250) does not catch fire spontaneously upon exposure to air under normal conditions of temperature and pressure. Thus, the chemical is unlikely to be "Auto Flammable". Thus, this end point was considered for waiver.
Flammability:
The NFPA rating for the chemical sodium 5-(aminosulphonyl)-2-[7-(diethylamino)-2-oxo-2H-1-benzopyran-3-yl] benzoxazole sulphonate (Common name: Acid Yellow 250) for flammability is 1, indicating that the chemical is not likely to be flammable under normal conditions of temperature and pressure. Thus, this end point was considered for waiver. The chemical is considered as "Non Flammable" for the purpose of chemical safety assessment.
Explosiveness:
In accordance with column 2 of Annex VII of the REACH regulation, the study is scientifically unjustified since there are no chemical groups associated with explosive properties present in the molecule of the chemical sodium 5-(aminosulphonyl)-2-[7-(diethylamino)-2-oxo-2H-1-benzopyran-3-yl] benzoxazole sulphonate (Common name: Acid Yellow 250). Thus, the chemical is not likely to be explosive and has been considered "Non explosive" for the purpose of chemical safety assessment.
Oxidising Properties:
In accordance with column 2 of Annex VII of the REACH regulation, the study is scientifically unjustified since there are no chemical groups associated with explosive properties present in the molecule of the chemical sodium 5-(aminosulphonyl)-2-[7-(diethylamino)-2-oxo-2H-1-benzopyran-3-yl] benzoxazole sulphonate (Common name: Acid Yellow 250). Thus, the chemical is not likely to be explosive and has been considered "Non explosive" for the purpose of chemical safety assessment.
pH:
The pH determination of test item Sodium 5-(aminosulphonyl)-2-[7-(diethylamino)-2-oxo-2H-1-benzopyran-3-yl] benzoxazole sulphonate(CAS No. 93859-32-6)was done as per the test guideline OECD 122. The pH of the test solution was determined with the help of digitalpH meter. The pH was found to be 5.38 at 34°C indicating weakly acidic nature of the test solution.
Viscosity:
In accordance with Section 2 of REACH Annex XI, information requirement section 7.17, this study cannot be conducted on solid materials or gases. According to ECHA Chapter 7 guidance, viscosity measurement is only relevant to liquids.Sodium 5-(aminosulphonyl)-2-[7-(diethylamino)-2-oxo-2H-1-benzopyran-3-yl] benzoxazole sulphonate is a powder.Hence this study is considered for waiver.
