Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

The toxicity of the substance to Daphnia magna was investigated using a static test system set up according to Directive 84/449/EEC, C.2. The nominal test concentrations were verified by analytical monitoring. At test termination after 48 hours of exposure an EC50 of 24.3 mg/L was determined (Ciba-Geigy Ltd. 1993b). The test result is supported by a second study on D. magna conducted according to Directive 84/449/EEC, C.2. The second study was performed without analytical monitoring. At test termination after 48 hours an EC50 of 18.5 mg/L was detected (Study director 1993e).

Both studies show nearly identical effect concentrations which differ only marginally. As the resulting level of concern was identical and also considering the guidance on information requirements and chemical safety assessment R.10 p. 7 “When there is more than one set of data on the same species, endpoint, duration, life stage and testing condition the greatest weight is attached to the most reliable and relevant one.” the greatest weight was given to the study with analytics and this study was used as the key study with the EC50 value of 24.3 mg/L.
