Administrative data
First-aid measures
Eyes: Contact with eyes may cause mild irritation. Immediately flush with large amounts of clean, lukewarm water (low pressure) for at least 15 minutes. Seek medical attention if irritation persists.
Skin: Wash affected areas thoroughly with soap and water. Clothing should be laundered before reuse.
Ingestion: Seek medical attention if stomach upset persists or if muscle and heart symptoms occur.
Inhalation: Remove to fresh air. Seek medical attention if symptoms persist.
Fire-fighting measures
Recommended extinguishing agents: Water spray, dry chemical, carbon dioxide, alcohol foam.
Products arising from burning or pyrolysis: Sulphur di- and tri-oxides, barium compounds and phosphates.
Protective equipment: Wear self contained breathing apparatus. Wear full fire fighting protective clothing. Fight the fire from a safe distance.
Accidental release measures
Evacuate personnel from the immediate vicinity.
Wear suitable protective gloves. Wipe surface with wet cloth or paper.
Do not release into surface water or groundwater.
Dispose of waste material in accordance with local regulations.
Handling and storage
The substance should be stored, handled and used under conditions of good industrial hygiene and in conformity with any local regulations in order to avoid exposure.
Engineering controls are necessary to reduce exposure to the substance.
When exposure can not be prevented or adequately controlled appropriate personal protective equipment should be worn. Such protective equipment should conform to the appropriate international or national standards as follows;
Chemical protective gloves to standard EN374
Chemical protective clothing to standard EN368
Eye protection to standard EN166.
Furthermore, when respiratory protective equipment has to be used, it must be capable of adequately controlling exposure, be suitable for the purpose, and conform to the appropriate international or national standards, such as a dust mask conforming to EN149 FFP1.
These measures should be regarded as a minimum.

Exposure controls / personal protection
The substance should be stored, handled and used under conditions of good industrial hygiene and in conformity with any local regulations in order to avoid exposure.
Potential routes of overexposure to this substance are skin and eye contact.
Adequate personal protective equipment (PPE), such as glasses, gloves should be used as appropriate to reduce exposure. Chemical protective gloves to a Standard EN374 should be provided. Usage periods should not exceed the breakthrough times for the chemical stated by the manufacturer of the glove
Stability and reactivity
Stability: Stable under normal storage conditions.
Incompatibilities: Strong acids, strong alkalis.
Thermal decomposition products: C0, CO2, oxides of sulphur, including sulphur di- and tri-oxides, potential for barium compounds.
Hazardous polymerization: None known.
Chemical reaction in combination with water: None that is hazardous.
Disposal considerations
Possibility of recovery/recycling of the used substance: Recovery from minor spillages or accidental discharge is not economically or technically feasible, and as such, waste material should be disposed of by appropriate methods.
Free flowing ink is not expected to be in or on the other components of the ink cartridge, which allows some parts of the cartridge to be recycled, including three filters, screens and sensor strips. The service provider will send these components to the HP recycling plant.
Controlled discharge: Contaminated containers or spillages of solutions mixed with inert material (e.g. sand or soil) may be disposed of by landfill at an authorized tip in accordance with local regulations.
Incineration: The substance can be disposed of by incineration by burning under controlled conditions at a licensed waste water treatment processor in accordance with local regulations.
Water purification system: The substance should not normally be discharged directly to the sewage system or the aqueous environment. However, adverse effects on sewage treatment systems would be unlikely.
Paper products will either be recycled or sent to landfill.
