Description of key information

The following information is available for the short-termtoxicity to fish endpoint:
- CIBA-GEIGY, Ltd; 1988, Report on the Test for Acute Toxicity of TK 10976 to Daphnia magna, Project No.: 884107.
- Steinhaeuser et al, 1985, Untersuchungen zur aquatischen toxizitat zinnorganischer verbindungen (Investigation on the Aquatic Toxicity of Organotin Compounds), Vom Wasser 65: 203-214.
Ciba-Geigy Ltd, 1988, is presented as the key information as the reliability rating for this study is 2, according to the criteria of Klimisch, 1997, and so is the most reliable study.

The Ciba-Geigy, 1988 study was performed in accordance to the OECD Guideline for testing number 202.

Summary of determination of EC50 (24h), where 50% of the daphnia are immobilized due to tetraocytltin. Test organisms were Daphnia magna Straus 1820. Daphnia were exposed for 24 h test. Deviation included the highest test concentration: stock solution of test substance in water.

Results: EC50 (24h): < 0.13 mg/L; EC100 (24h): 0.26 mg/L.

Note that 0.13 mg/L tetraoctyltin was the lowest concentration tested.

The Steinhauser, 1985, study is presented as supporting information only. The study presented a EC50 of > 1µg/L.
