Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

The substance 3,3'-[biphenyl-4,4'-diylbis(oxy)]dianiline is solid under environmental conditions. It exhibits very low vapour pressure and water solubility. The partition coefficient n-octanol/water (log KOW > 3) and the relatively high organic carbon partition coefficient under relevant environmental conditions (log KOC > 5) indicate the strong binding capacity of the test substance to solid surfaces. It can be speculated that the substance, if released to the environment, will partition into the sediment or soil compartment rather than into the atmosphere or the aquatic environment. Bioaccumulation tests showed the bioavailability of the substance, its moderate bioaccumulation capacity and rather quick elimination from the organism.

Due to the very low water solubility of the substance (0.002 mg/L), hydrolysis is considered not to be a relevant degradation process for 3,3'-[biphenyl-4,4'-diylbis(oxy)]dianiline and it is impractical to test this property.

The available data indicate a very low potential for degradation of 3,3'-[biphenyl-4,4'-diylbis(oxy)]dianiline in the environment, either by abiotic processes or by organisms.
