An acute toxicity study with Ceriodaphnia dubia is available for ethylamine (CAS 75-04-7). The methods described in this static test meet the testing requirements of the standard procedures described in the methods for measuring the acute toxicity of effluents and reciving waters to freshwater and marine organisms (U.S. EPA, 1991), the standard guide for endpoint acute toxicity tests with fishes, macroinvertebrates, and amphibians (ASTM, 1993) and Good Laboratory Practices (40 CFR, Part 792). The 48-hour LC50 value was estimated by nonlinear interpolation to be 7.9 mg A.I./L. The No-Observed-Acute-Effect Level (NOAEL) was determined to be 2.9 mg A.I./L (mean measured concentrations, calculated for the test item purity of 100%, Arkema, rep. no.: 94 -7 -53333, 1994). The test solutions were renewed every 24 h. Analysis of the exposure resulted in measured concentrations which were in agreement with the nominal concentrations over the 24-h exposure period.

Based on the available experimental data, ethylamine is considered to be acutely toxic for aquatic invertebrates.
