Description of key information
In vitro studies show that bis(2-chloroethoxy) methane is neither corrosive nor irritating to skin. In vitro study shows that bis(2-chloroethoxy) methane is not corrosive to the eye. Instillation of diformal into the rabbit eye resulted in slight transient irritation of the conjunctivae completely resolving within 48 hours.

In vitro studies show that bis(2-chloroethoxy) methane is neither corrosive nor irritating to skin. Instillation of bis(2-chloroethoxy) methane into the rabbit eye resulted in slight transient irritation of the conjunctivae completely resolving within 48 hours. Therefore the substance is not classified.
