Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Soil degradation (OECD 307):
Half-life 11.7 days in one soil type only [read-across from supporting substance 'Distillates (Fischer-Tropsch), C8-26 - branched and linear']

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

The results of experimental studies on biodegradation in soil are summarised in "Short description of key information", for a related substance. Although the tested substance covers a narrower carbon chain length range than GTL Base Oil Distillates, the adsorption and bioavailability properties of the higher carbon number constituents of the tested substance are not expected to differ significantly from the registration substance. Therefore the results of this study are relevant, as indicative data. Whilst it does not firmly demonstrate biodegradability in the solid phase it is scientifically reasonable to make this interpretation and extrapolate the potential for inherent susceptibility to biodegradation, though conclusions on rate cannot be reached on this basis.
