Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Ebanol was found to be readily biodegradable under the strict testing conditions of the OECD301F guidelines. In addition, at the concentration used in the test (100 mg/L), it is not inhibitory to micro-organisms.

Assessment of hydrolytic stability was carried out according to OECD Guideline 111. The half-life of Ebanol at 25°C

was shown to be greater than 1 year for pH 4, pH 7 and pH 9.

The bioaccumulation potential of Ebanol has been assessed using a weight of evidence approach. Ebanol demonstrated a metabolic turnover of 73 -75% in a trout liver S9 in vitro assay. Furthermore, Ebanol is readily biodegradable and it is generally accepted that readily biodegradable chemicals have a high probability of being metabolised in exposed organisms. BCF estimation methods corroborated with analogue data and models that take biotransformation into account gave similar BCF estimates in the range of 102 to 366 L/kg.

The Koc for Ebanol was determined to be 1585 according to an OECD 121 study.
