Description of key information
The test substance was not readily biodegradable under the conditions of the manometric respirometry test.
The test substance was not inherently biodegradable under the conditions of the Zahn-Wellens test.

Additional information
The biodegradation potential of the test substance was investigated in a ready biodegradability study and in an inherent biodegradability study. The ready biodegradability test followed the procedures of OECD Guideline 301 F. The test substance was tested at a concentration of 100 mg/L. After 28 days a degradation of 1% was observed.
The inherent biodegradation of the test substance was investigated according to OECD Guideline 302 B. Due to the low water solubility of the test substance, it was tested in a concentration of only 4 mg/L and a test material analysis were performed instead of a DOC analysis. After 28 days, the test substance concentration was reduced to 49% of the initial concentration. Regarding the elimination curve a plateau of the concentration was observed from day 14 on. To elucidate the underlying process (biodegradation or abiotic processes), a sterile uninoculated solution of the test substance was tested additionally. A reduction in the test substance concentration of about 80% was measured after 28 d. Based on this result, it is concluded that the elimination of the test substance within the 28 days is probably due to physicochemical effects, e.g. adsorption, stripping and not due to biodegradation.
Hence, the substance is considered as neither readily nor inherently biodegradable according to OECD criteria.
