Results

In order to describe the time dependence of the surface tension after transferring the solution to the measurement vessel, repeated measurements were carried out with increasing the equilibrium time.
A constant surface tension was reached after about 275 sec (see Table 1).

The surface tension ofReactive Blue F08-0170aqueous solution read on the instrument was 72.7 mN/m at 20°C, using the OECD harmonised ring method, representing the mean of five separate measurements. The equilibrium time for these five measurements was in a range of 325 - 370 sec. The details are shown in Table 2.

The measured surface tension was multiplied by the correction factor and then corrected according to Harkins and Jordan, resulting in a corrected surface tension of 72.6 mN/m.

As the surface tension value was higher than 60 mN/m, Reactive Blue F08-0170 is not classified as surface active.

Applicant's summary and conclusion

Conclusions:
The measured surface tension was multiplied by the correction factor and then corrected according to Harkins and Jordan, resulting in a corrected surface tension of 72.6 mN/m.

As the surface tension value was higher than 60 mN/m, Reactive Blue F08-0170 is not classified as surface active.
Executive summary:

The determination of the surface tension was carried out on the test item as supplied by the sponsor, with a Krüss K6 Tensiometer using the OECD harmonised ring method. The measured value was found to be 72.6 mN/m.

As the surface tension value was higher than 60 mN/m, Reactive Blue F08-0170 is not classified as surface active.
