Guidance on Safe Use
Administrative data
First-aid measures
In cases of sickness seek medical advice (show label or SDS if possible).
After inhalation:
Provide fresh air. In cases of sickness seek medical advice (show label or SDS if possible).
After contact with the skin:
Wash with plenty of water or water and soap. Seek medical advice in case of continuous irritation. Remove contaminated or soaked clothing.
After contact with the eyes:
Rinse immediately with plenty of water. Seek medical advice in case of continuous irritation.
After swallowing:
Do not induce vomiting. Danger of aspiration. Seek medical advice and clearly identify substance.
Fire-fighting measures
water spray , extinguishing powder , foam , carbon dioxide .
Extinguishing media which must not be used for safety reasons:
water jet .
Special exposure hazards arising from the substance or preparation itself, combustion products, resulting gases:
Heavy soot formation during combustion. At low oxygen level: organic decomposition products .
Special protective equipment for fire fighting:
Use respiratory protection independent of recirculated air.
Accidental release measures
Wear personal protection equipment (see section 8). Avoid inhaling mists and vapours.
Environmental precautions:
Contain any fluid that runs out using suitable material (e.g. earth). Prevent material from entering sewers or surface waters.
Retain contaminated water/extinguishing water. Observe local/state/federal regulations.
Methods for cleaning up:
Absorb with a liquid binding material such as diatomaceous earth and dispose of according to local/state/federal regulations.
Contain larger amounts and pump up into suitable containers.
Further information:
Eliminate all sources of ignition.
Handling and storage
Precautions for safe handling:
Keep away from heat, sparks and flame. Ensure adequate ventilation.
Precautions against fire and explosion:
Keep away from sources of ignition and do not smoke. Cool endangered containers with water. Flammable vapors may accumulate and form explosive mixtures with air in containers, process vessels, including partial, empty and uncleaned containers and vessels, or other enclosed spaces.
Keep away from open flames, heat and sparks. In case of fire remove container out of endangered area.
Storage:
Conditions for storage rooms and vessels:
Do not store in iron containers.
Advice for storage of incompatible materials:
none known .
Further information for storage:
Keep in the original container in a cool well ventilated place. Keep container dry and tightly closed.

Exposure controls / personal protection
Maximum airborne concentrations at the workplace:
not applicable
-
Exposure limited and controlled:
Exposure in the work place limited and controlled:
General protection and hygiene measures:
Observe standard industrial hygiene practices for the handling of chemical substances. Avoid contact with eyes.
Wash hands at the end of work and before eating.
Personal protection equipment:
Respiratory protection:
In case of long or strong exposure: gas mask filter A.
Hand protection:
Protective gloves made of chloroprene rubber . Wear gloves for short periods only < 10 mins.
Eye protection:
tight fitting protective goggles.
Exposure to the environment limited and controlled:
Prevent material from entering surface waters and soil.
Further information for system design and engineering measures:
Observe information in section 7.
Stability and reactivity
If stored and handled in accordance with standard industrial practices no hazardous reactions are known.
Conditions to avoid:
none known.
Materials to avoid:
Reacts with: basic substances (e.g. alkalis, ammonia, amines) . Reaction causes the formation of: methanol and heat.
Hazardous decomposition products:
If stored and handled in accordance with standard industrial practices and local regulations where applicable: none known.
Disposal considerations
Recommendation:
Dispose of according to regulations by incineration in a special waste incinerator. Observe local/state/federal regulations.
Uncleaned packaging:
Recommendation:
Completely discharge containers (no tear drops, no powder rest, scraped carefully). Containers may be recycled or re-used.
Observe local/state/federal regulations. Uncleaned packaging should be treated with the same precautions as the material.
