First-aid measures

General information : Get medical aid.

First aid measures :

- Inhalation : Assure fresh air breathing. If breathing is difficult, give oxygen. If not breathing, give artificial respiration.

- Skin contact : Remove contaminated clothing and shoes. Rinse immediately with plenty of water for at least 15 min.

- Eye contact : Rinse immediately with plenty of water for at least 15 min. Occasionally lift up the upper and lower eyelids.

- Ingestion : If swallowed, rinse mouth with water (only if the person is conscious). Do not induce vomiting.

Note to physician : treat symptomatically.

Fire-fighting measures

Extinguishing media : appropriate foam, dry powder, carbon dioxide, water spray.

Protection against fire : Wear a self-contained breathing apparatus in pressure-demand, MSHA/NIOSH (or quivalent) and full protective gear.

Specific hazards: irritating ang highly toxic gases may be generated by thermal decomposition.

Accidental release measures

Personal precautions : Use proper personal protective equipment as indicated in Section Exposure controls and personal precaution.

Environmental precautions : Do not let the chemical enter the environment.

Clean up methods : Vacuum or sweep up the materia and place into a suitable disposal container. Coleect and evacuate without creating dust. Wash the spilled area with water, after having completely absorbed the material.

Handling and storage

Storage : Store in tightly closed containers. Store in dry, cool area.

Handling : Avoid formation of dust and aerosols. Avoid any contact with skin, eyes and clothes. Avoid inhalation. Provide adequate ventilation where dust is formed.

This substance is handled under strictly controlled conditions in accordance with Reach regulation Article 18(4) for transported isolated intermediate. Site documentation to support safe handling arrangements including the selection of engineering, administrative and personal protective equipment controls in accordance with risk-based management system is available at each site. Written confirmation of application of strictly controlled conditions has been received from every downstream user of the intermediate.

Exposure controls / personal protection

Industrial hygiene : Handle in accordance with good industrial hygiene and safety practice. Wash hands before breaks and at theand of workday.  Emergency eye wash fountains and safety showers should be available in the immediate vicinity of any potential exposure.

Personal protection :

- Respiratory protection : Follow the OSHA respiratory regulation found in 29 CFR 1910.134 or European Standard EN 149 if exposure limits are exceeded or if any symptoms are experienced.

- Hand protection : Wear suitable gloves resistant to chemical penetration according to standard EN374 (Directive EU 89/689/CEE). Gloves have to be controlled before the use. Use a technique of withdrawal of gloves suited to avoid that the skins contacts the product.

- Skin protection : Wear suitable protective clothing. Protective boots if the situation requires. The type of equipment of protection must be selected according to the concentration and to the quantity of the product at work.

- Eye protection : Chemical goggles or safety glasses.

Hazardous decomposition products : nitrogen oxides, carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, hydrogen bromide gas, phosphorus oxides, phosphine.

Materials to avoid :strong oxidizing agents.

Conditions to avoid : incompatible materials.

Disposal considerations

Dispose in a safe manner in accordance with local / national regulations.
