Registration Dossier

Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Administrative data

First-aid measures

Emergency measure - Inhalation: In case of inhalation of dust or aerosol, seek medical

attention.

Emergency measure - Eyes: Rinse immediately with water. If necessary, seek medical

advice.

Emergency measure - Skin: Wash immediately with plenty of soap and water.

Contaminated clothing must be changed.

Emergency measure - Ingestion: Give large amounts of water (if necessary with activated

charcoal). Seek medical attention.

Fire-fighting measures

Recommended extinguishing agent: Recommended extinguishing agents: Water, carbon dioxide and

dry powder are suitable.

Product arising from burning: Products arising from pyrolysis: Combustion products may

contain carbon, nitrogen and sulfur oxides together with

some soot.

Protective equipment: Protective equipment: Respiratory equipment and protective

clothing should be worn.

Accidental release measures

Emergency measures in case of spillage: Take suitable precautions (cf 2.3.1). Collect powder or

solid emulsion and place in labelled containers for

disposal. For molten emulsion, absorb using material before

collection as above. Dispose of waste at a controlled

landfill site or incinerator.

Handling and storage

Handling: When handling, observe the usual precautions for organic

chemicals. Avoid skin and eye contact; wear suitable

protective glasses, gloves and clothing. Avoid dust

formation. Keep away from food and drink stuffs.

Storage: Store dry in tightly closed containers (eg plastic or

tin-plate box, up to 5 kg or in polyethylene sacks in

cardboard containers for larger quantities) at room

temperature. Observe good hygiene procedures for

storerooms. Reseal containers after use. Avoid substance

residues on containers. For preparations, as above but

store at 5 deg C in 40 kg plastic containers.

Stability and reactivity

Danger other than fire: Other dangers: None reported.

Chemical reaction with water: Chemical reaction with water: None reported, the substance

is virtually insoluble in water.

Disposal considerations

Industry - Possibility of recovery/recycling: Recovery or reuse is not possible in practice.

Industry - Possibility of neutralisation: Not applicable, no unfavourable effects identified.

Industry - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: Disposal at a controlled landfill site, insulated to

prevent seepage is possible if in accordance with

environmental and local regulations.

Industry - Possibility of destruction - incineration: Recommended method of disposal. Waste gas treatment to

remove carbon, nitrogen and sulfur oxides must be used.

Industry - Possibility of destruction - water purification: The substance is virtually insoluble in water and may be

removed by filtration or adsorption on sludge. The

substance is only likely to enter water purification

systems during the wetting of films and photographs in

photographic laboratories.

Public at large - Possibility of recovery/recycling: Not applicable, only photographic film or paper containing

the substance will enter the public domain.

Public at large - Possibility of neutralisation: Not applicable.

Public at large - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: Disposal with domestic waste is possible.

Public at large - Possibility of destruction - incineration: Incineration with domestic waste is possible.

Public at large - Possibility of destruction - water purification: Not applicable.
