Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

Experimental data on the toxicity of Fatty alcohols C8-10, ethoxylated < 2.5 EO (CAS 71060-57-6) to algae are not available. The assessment of the toxicity to algae is therefore based on data available for a structurally similar AE substance (Octan-1-ol, ethoxylated, CAS 27252-75-1).

The available study on the toxicity to algae was conducted according to OECD guideline 201 (GLP). Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata was exposed to nominal test substance concentrations of 1.0, 3.2, 10, 32 and 100 mg/L for 72 hours. An analytical dose verification by HPLC was performed. The geometric mean measured test concentrations: 0.81, 2.6, 8.0, 23 and 105 mg/L.. The determined EC50(48 h) was 14 mg/L (geom. mean measured), the EC10 (72) was 5.9 mg/L.

The assessment is based on the data currently available. New studies, based on the category review and the final decisions issued for some of the category substances, which are also relevant for this assessment, are currently being conducted. The finalised studies will be incorporated into the dossiers and the aquatic toxicity will be re-assessed in the updated dossiers by the 20thof June 2022.
