Description of key information

Considering the physico-chemical properties of alkyl (C13-C15)-glycidyl ether, i.e., low molecular weight, high log Pow value (> 6.5), and low vapor pressure of 0.04Pa, absorption of alkyl (C13-C15)-glycidyl ether is expected to mainly occur via dermal and oral route, with very limited potential for inhalation absorption. After absorption, (C13-C15)AGE is expected to be mainly detoxified though chemical or enzymatic hydrolysis by Epoxide hydratase and conjugation with GSH. In addition, (C13-C15)AGE can be metabolized to adduct with some proteins. Animal data suggest that (C13-C15)AGE may be excreted mainly via urine or (to a smaller extent ) by feces, in form of metabolites that result from conjugation with GSH, or from the epoxide hydrolysis pathway and parent compound. In addition, excretion of metabolite after oxidative de-alkylation has been demonstrated.
