Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.
The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Particle size distribution (Granulometry)
Administrative data
- Endpoint:
- particle size distribution (granulometry)
- Data waiving:
- study technically not feasible
- Justification for data waiving:
- the study does not need to be conducted because the substance is marketed or used in a non solid or granular form
Cross-reference
- Reason / purpose for cross-reference:
- data waiving: supporting information
Reference
- Endpoint:
- appearance / physical state / colour
- Type of information:
- experimental study
- Adequacy of study:
- key study
- Study period:
- 2016
- Reliability:
- 2 (reliable with restrictions)
- Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
- test procedure in accordance with national standard methods
- Qualifier:
- no guideline followed
- Principles of method if other than guideline:
- Scope:
This method describes the evaluation and observation of products in terms of physical appearance.
Procedure:
(For Liquid or Molten Samples)
1. Upon receiving material samples, visually check top and bottom (on liquid products only) samples for haze, particulate matter, or discoloration.
2. If material is not perfectly clear or free of particulate matter, request a resample. Also, compare sample to a retain of the previous receipt.
3. If any doubt persists, the material is vacuum filtered through a clean Whatman #4 filter paper inserted into a clean & dry Buchner funnel. There should be no particulate matter observed on the filter paper.
4. If after resampling, the material does not meet visual clarity specification, inform the Lab Manager or Lab Supervisor and the Shift Supervisor that the material is rejected due to physical appearance.
5. If the material is rejected due to physical appearance, file the appropriate report:
a. Raw Material Non-Conformance
A Vendor Corrective Action report will be initiated and sent to the vendor for completion.
b. Finished Product/Intermediate Non-Conformance
A Non-conformance report will be initiated and sent to management for review.
Safety:
Adhere to normal safety practices. Consult MSDS prior to using chemicals.
Document Control:
All changes to documents must follow the guidelines of document control according to established change control policy, and work instructions. - GLP compliance:
- no
- Physical state at 20°C and 1013 hPa:
- liquid
- Colour:
- pale
- Substance type:
- organic
- Conclusions:
- substance is a pale liquid
- Executive summary:
substance is liquid at 1013 hPa and 20C
