Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Conclusion on classification

Degradation:

Hydrolysis: 1.6 h at pH 7 (QSAR)

Biodegradation: not readily biodegradable based on read across from CAS 31024-56-3

Bioaccumulation:

N-{3-[dimethoxy(methyl)silyl]propyl}butan-1-amine (CAS 120939-52-8): not relevant due to fast hydrolysis

Silanol hydrolysis product [3-(butylamino)propyl](methyl)silanediol: Log Kow = 1.0 (QSAR)

Aquatic acute toxicity

Aquatic invertebrates: EC50 (48 h) > 100 mg/L (nominal, OECD 202, Daphnia magna)

Algae/aquatic plant: ErC50 (72 h) > 100 mg/L (nominal, OECD 201, Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata)

Aquatic chronic toxicity

Algae/aquatic plant: NOErC (72 h) = 29.2 mg/L (nominal, OECD 201, Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata)

Classification according to CLP

N-{3-[dimethoxy(methyl)silyl]propyl}butan-1-amine (CAS 120939-52-8) hydrolyses rapidly to [3-(butylamino)propyl](methyl)silanediol and methanol. The silanol hydrolysis product is not considered to be rapidly degradable and not bioaccumulative. Acute toxicity data are available for aquatic invertebrates and algae while long term toxicity data are available only for algae. In both trophic levels the EC50 value was higher than 100 mg/L. In the algae study an EC10 value of 29.2 mg/L was determined. On this basis N-{3-[dimethoxy(methyl)silyl]propyl}butan-1-amine (CAS 120939-52-8) is not classified and labeled according to the consolidated version of Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008 and further amendments (ATPs).
