- Le chrome est trouvé de manière naturelle dans l'environnement mais peut aussi provenir de sources anthropogéniques. Dans les eaux de surface, le chrome existe dans deux états d'oxydation, 3+ (III) et 6+ (VI) et s'adsorbe facilement dans les sédiments. Le chrome (III) est moins toxique que le Cr (VI) et sa faible solubilité dans l'eau fait qu’il précipite très facilement et limite donc sa biodisponibilité (Maycock et al. 2007). En conséquence, le chrome trivalent peut être considéré comme rapidement et facilement biodégradable, en ce sens que le concept de biodisponibilité est appliqué.
L'anion organique acétylacétone (CAS 123-54-6) est connu pour être facilement biodégradable, ce qui a été démontré dans une étude d'orientation (OCDE 2011).
En conclusion, les deux parties de la substance à enregistrer peuvent être classées comme facilement biodégradables et, par conséquent, aucun autre test de devenir dans l’environnement n'est requis et la substance à enregistrer est considérée comme non-persistante.
