In vivo eye irritation was waived because the substance is classified skin corrosive 1B.
Justification for classification or non-classification
There was evidence of dermal corrosion from the In vitro skin corrosion OECD TG 435 assay, conducted on the test substance at 30% in water.
The substance meets the GHS criteria to be classified for skin corrosion 1B, according to EU Classification, Labelling and Packaging of Substances and Mixtures (CLP) Regulation (EC) No. 1272/2008.
As the substance was previously evaluated through an in vitro corrositex® assay, and was classified skin corrosive 1B, it shall be considered as leading to serious damage to the eyes (Category 1). In order to avoid testing for local effects on eyes with skin corrosive substances, the substance is classified serious eye damage cat. 1, in accordance with Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008 (CLP).
