Due to the test item’s viscosity, it was considered that the pycnometer method for liquids would be impractical. To aid transferal to glass vessels which would fit inside the sample cell of the gas comparison pycnometer, the test item was heated in a water bath at up to 60 °C in order to make it mobile enough to pour. The samples were then equilibrated at 20 °C before being tested.
Two determinations were performed to ensure a reproducibility of less than ± 20 kg/m3 was obtained.
Description of key information
The density of the test item has been determined to be 1.02 x 103kg/m3at 20.0 ± 1.0 °C and a relative density of 1.02.
Key value for chemical safety assessment
