Additional information

For substances covered by Annex VIII to REACH short-term toxicity testing on fish, invertebrates (preferably Daphnia), growth inhibition study on aquatic plants (preferably algae) and microorganisms are required.

The tests required to fulfil the ANNEX VIII were performed on a similar substance 01 (read-across from supporting substance -structural analogue or surrogate).

Fish

After a range finding a limit test performed according to OECD203 was performed with carp exposed to 100 mg/L in a static system, with only one death observed.

Aquatic invertebrates

No daphnids became immobile during the 48 hour test period, according to OECD202.

The study based on the OECD guideline No. 211 :"Daphnia magna reproduction test".investigated the effects of the Similar substance 01 on survival and reproductive performance in Daphnia magna during 21 days of exposure.

Statistical analysis ofthe reproduction data revealed that the reproductive capacity of daphnids exposed to the substance up to 46 mg/L was not affected. A significant decrease in reproductive capacity was found at a nominal exposure concentration of 100 mg/L.

Aquatic algae

Algal growth was almost completely reduced at the highest concentration of 100 mg/L after indirect exposure, in atest performed according to OECD201.

More than 70% of the reduction of growth rate was related to absorption of wavelengths by the colour of the test solutions at the concentrations up to and including 100 mg/L, the maximum concentration to be tested.

Microorganisms

Under the conditions of the OECD 209 test, was not toxic to waste water (activated sludge) bacteria at a concentration of 100 mg/L (3h).
