Acute toxicity studies evaluating the toxicity of the substance to aquatic organisms are available for three different trophic levels. All studies were performed according to international guidelines and GLP. Freshwater fish (Danio rerio) turned out to be the most sensitive species with a LC50 (96 h) of 8.43 mg/L followed by aquatic algae (Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata; ErC10 (72 h) of 5.06 mg/L, ErC50 (72 h) of 15.7 mg/L) based on inhibition of growth and aquatic invertebrates (Daphnia magna; EC50 (48 h): 22 mg/L). The substance did not cause inhibition of biodegradation in a biodegradation study according to OECD 310 with activated sludge from a sewage treatment plant. Thus, significant inhibition of the subsequent degradation process in sewage treatment plants is not expected. Based on the result of the toxicity control a NOEC (14 d) of ≥ 20 mg/L was derived.
