Melting point/ Freezing point:
The mean melting temperature range of Tetraoctylammonium bromide (CAS No. 14866-33-2) was determined to be 91°C - 95°C at 967.6 hPa.
Boiling point:
The mean boiling point of Tetraoctylammonium bromide (CAS No. 14866-33-2) is 209.3°C at 966.8 hPa.
Density:
The mean density of Tetraoctylammonium bromide (CAS No. 14866-33-2) was determined to be 0.7898 g/cm³ at 20 °C and 968.1 hPa..
Particle size distribution (Granulometry):
The particle size distribution of substance Tetraoctylammonium bromide was determined in the range of 150 micron to 75 micron.
Vapour pressure:
The estimated vapour pressure of substance Tetraoctylammonium bromide at 25 deg C was 0.000000000000141 Pa.
Partition coefficient:
The octanol water partition coefficent (log Pow) of chemical Tetraoctylammonium Bromide (CAS no. 14866-33-2) was estimated to be 4.47 at temparature 25oC. By this log Pow value chemical Tetraoctylammonium Bromide is considered as hydrophilic in nature.
Water solubility:
The solubility of Tetraoctylammonium bromide (14866-33-2 ) in water was determined to be 28.984 mg/L at 30°C.
Surface tension:
In accordance with column 2 of Annex VII of the REACH regulation, the study need only be conducted if surface activity is a desired property of the chemical. The Tetraoctylammonium bromide (14866-33-2) is used frequently as a laboratory chemical, Synthesis of substances, etc. For this use, surface activity is not an important property. Hence this study was considered for waiver.
Flash point:
The mean flash point of Tetraoctylammonium bromide (CAS No. 14866-33-2) is 101°C at 967.0 hPa.
Autoflammability:
Tetraoctylammonium bromide did not catch fire on being exposed to air at room temperature of 27°C pressure of 966 hPa. This indicates that Tetraoctylammonium bromide is not auto-flammable.
Flammability:
Tetraoctylammonium bromide does not indicate any ignition when the flame of bunsen burner having temperature of approximately 950°C is brought in contact with it. Thus it can be concluded that Tetraoctylammonium bromide is not flammable at high temperature. However since such high temperatures are not found under normal circumstances of transportation and use, thus Tetraoctylammonium bromide was considered non-flammable for chemical safety assessment.
Explosiveness:
The study does not need to be conducted because there are no chemical groups present in the molecule which are associated with explosive properties.
Oxidising properties:
The study does not need to be conducted because there are no chemical groups present in the molecule which are associated with oxidizing properties and hence the classification procedure does not need to be applied.
pH:
The pH of 1% w/v dispersion of Tetraoctylammonium bromide (CAS No14866-33-2) was 3.87 at 25 °C.
