Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

6.1.1 Short-term toxicity to fish

The acute toxicity of Ethane-1,2 -diol, propoxylated, to fish (Danio rerio) was tested according to EU method C.1 'Acute Toxicity for Fish' (2008). No toxic effects against fish was observed during 96 hours exposure at a limit test concentration of 100 mg/L (Currenta, 2009).

6.1.2 Long-term toxicity to fish

Data waiving:

In accordance with column 2 of REACH Annex IX, long-term toxicity studies with fish do not need to be conducted as from the chemical safety assessment it can be concluded that there is no risk for aquatic organisms based on short-term toxicity data. A further refinement of the PNECs for the aquatic compartment with long-term toxicity data is therefore not required.

6.1.3 Short-term toxicity to aquatic invertebrates

The acute toxicity of Ethane-1,2 -diol, propoxylated, to aquatic invertebrates (Daphnia magna) was tested according to EU method C.2 'Acute toxicity for Daphnia' (2008). No toxic effects against Daphnia magna was observed during 48 hours exposure at a limit test concentration of 100 mg/L (Currenta, 2009).

6.1.4 Long-term toxicity aquatic invertebrates

The chronic toxicity of D-Glucitol, propoxylated to aquatic invertebrates (Daphnia magna) was tested according to OECD 202. No toxic effects against D. magna was observed during 21 days exposure up to a concentration of 10 mg/L; NOEC >= 10 mg/L (Currenta, 2009).

6.1.5 Toxicity to aquatic algae and cyanobacteria

The acute toxicity of Ethane-1,2 -diol, propoxylated, to Alga (Desmodesmus subspicatus former name: Scenedesmus subspicatus) was tested according to EU method C.3 'Alga, Inhibition Test' (2009). During 72 hours exposure an EC50 of >100 mg/L was measured and a NOEC of >=100 mg/L was calculated (Currenta, 2009).

6.1.7 Toxicity to microorganisms

A 3h EC50 was > 10000 mg/L
