Description of key information

The substance is not ready biodegradable based on predicted data.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

No ready biodegradability is predicted for 5-methoxy-2-methylsulphanilic acid by BIOWIN v.4.10.

To support this predicted value we consider a compound with similar structure, 4-aminotoluene-3-sulfonic acid. As reported in SIDS Dossier of 4-aminotoluene-3-sulfonic acid approved at SIAM 16 (27 -30 May 2003) with reference to METI Japan,Chemical Inspection and Testing Institute, Japan (1999): report on biodegradation, 4-aminotoluene-3-sulfonic acid is not readily biodegradable (0% based on BOD during a 14 days incubation period).
