This test method allow the determination of the specific surface area of substances in powder or in granulate form according to the Brunauer, Emmet and Teller (BET) principle.

4.1 Preparing the Instruments
Rinsing: valves 1, 2, 3, and 4 are open (pin has been removed), the blocking valve 5 is locked. Both the adsorption vessels are still on the AREA-Meter. The nitrogen stream is on (20%).

5. Evaluation
The nomographic evaluation is the most simplified way of calculating specific surface areas.
The specific surface area is calculated using four different parameters.
