Guidance on Safe Use
Administrative data
First-aid measures
Inhalation: remove patient from exposure and bring to fresh air. If breathing has stopped, perform artificial respiration and get medical advice/attention immediately.
Skin contact: wash skin with water and soap, and rinse thoroughly. If skin irritation occurs, get medical advice/attention.
Eye contact: check for and remove any contact lenses. Immediately flush eyes with plenty of water, occasionally lifting upper and lower eyelids, for several minutes. Get medical advice/attention.
Ingestion: Seek medical advice/attention. If vomiting occurs, keep head lower than hips to prevent aspiration.
Fire-fighting measures
Extinguishing media: CO2, powder, foam . This product by itself is non-flammable.
Protective equipment for firemen: Wear self-contained respiratory protective device. Disposal information: Dispose of fire debris and contaminated fire-fighting water in accordance with official regulations.
Decomposition point: > 700oC. Thermal decomposition products may include toxic and/or hazardous vapours.
Accidental release measures
Personal precautions: Stop product release. Avoid dust inhalation by wearing respiratory protective device.
Environmental precautions: take measures to minimise the effects to soil, by damping down dust with water spray. Keep contaminated washing water and dispose of appropriately. Take measures to minimize the effects to water by containment or buffering the contaminated water.
Methods for cleaning up: vacuum or sweep up material, and place into a suitable container. The spilled product can be used again or disposed of, in accordance with the local regulations.
Handling and storage
Handling: Avoid formation of dust. Do not ingest or breathe dust. Wash your hands before eating , drinking or smoking. Wear suitable protective clothing.
Storage: Keep in dry place. Store away from incompatible substances such as: aluminium, silicon or ferrosilicon. Violent reaction with interhalogenes (e.g. bromine pentafluoride, and will form incandescent reaction with hot sodium, potassium, magnesium or lithium).
Specific Use: Conditions and work practices that generate dust should be avoided or controlled.
Protection against explosion and fires: the product by itself is non-flammable.
