Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

The 24 and 48 hour median effective concentrations (EC50) of 1,1,1,2 -tetrafluoroethane (HFC 134a) to the freshwater crustacean Daphnia magna (< 24 hours old) were determined under static test conditions at a temperature of 20±1°C. The EC50 was defined as the concentration calculated from the data that resulted in immobilisation of 50% of the Daphnia in the time period specificed. Based on the measured concentrations of the stock solution used to prepared the test solutions, the mean measured concentrations in the test solution ranged from 76 to 107% of the nominal values. The 24 hr EC50 was determined as 960 mg/l and the 48 hr EC50 as 980 mg/l, both having 95% confidence limits of 870 - 1100 mg/l.
