Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets
Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.
The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Guidance on Safe Use
Administrative data
First-aid measures
Inhalation: Fresh air, rest. Half-upright position. Refer for medical attention.
Ingestion: Rinse mouth. Do NOT induce vomiting. Give plenty of water to drink. Refer for medical attention.
Skin contact: Remove contaminated clothes. Rinse skin with plenty of water or shower. Immediately refer for medical attention.
Eye contact: First rinse with plenty of water for several minutes (remove contact lenses if easily possible), then take doctor help.
Fire-fighting measures
There are no restrictions on fire-fighting media.
In case of fire in the surroundings: use appropriate extinguishing media. When heated to decomposition (1050 C) it emits highly toxic and corrosive fumes of Hydrogen Fluoride, Silicon Tetrafluoride and Hydrogen gas.
Accidental release measures
Collect leaking and spilled liquid in sealable iron containers as far as possible. Absorb remaining liquid in sand or inert absorbent and remove to safe place.
Handling and storage
Store in a cool, dry, well ventilated area away from sources of ignition. Do not store in glass or stoneware. Bulk quantities should be stored in plastic (uPVC, Polypropylene or Polythene) or rubber - lined tanks. Tanks should be vented and fitted with an overflow pipe. Tanks should be bunded to contain spillage. For smaller packages double skinned HDPE plastic containers are acceptable.

Exposure controls / personal protection
Wear NIOSH approved self-contained acid suit and/or approved respirator. Protective gloves. Protective clothing. Face shield or eye protection in combination with breathing protection.
Stability and reactivity
Reacts with many metals to produce flammable and explosive hydrogen gas. Keep containers cool with water, using spray nozzles, as decomposition will occur above 105oC and produce toxic and corrosive fumes.
Disposal considerations
Collect leaking and spilled liquid in sealable iron containers as far as possible. Absorb remaining liquid in sand or inert absorbent and remove to safe place.
