Description of key information

The bioaccumulation estimates based on the log Pow of 1.1 and using BCFBAF v.3.00 (regression-based method) resulted in a BCF of 1.37 L/kg wet weight.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

BCF (aquatic species):
1.37 L/kg ww

Additional information

No studies on the bioaccumulation of benzyl alcohol are available. In accordance with column 2 of REACH Annex IX, a study on bioaccumulation in fish (required in section 9.3.2) does not need to be conducted if the substance has a low potential for bioaccumulation (logPow <3). The logPow of benzyl alcohol is 1.1 and bioaccumulation estimates using BCFBAF v.3.00 (regression-based method) resulted in a BCF of 1.37 L/kg wet weight. Hence, benzyl alcohol is considered to have no potential for bioaccumulation in aquatic organisms and the performance of a study is not required.
