Description of key information

Arthur et al (1974) presents 96 hr TL50(or LC50) results of 103 and 125 mg/L NA3NTA for the fathead minnow, Pimephales promelas.  Tests were conducted according to APHA (1971) Standard Methods 13 ed.

Additional information

Arthur et al (1974) presents 96 hr TL50(or LC50) results of 103 and 125 mg/L NA3NTA for the fathead minnow, Pimephales promelas. Tests were conducted according to APHA (1971) Standard Methods 13 ed.

This study was chosen as key study as it was the most sensitive reliable data for short-term toxicity of NTA to freshwater fish. Macek and Sturm (1973) provided 96 hr TL50 of 98 mg/L for exposure of Na3NTA to rainbow trout. This study was deemed unreliable. Weaver (1967) exposed blugill to Na3NTA in batch and flow-through tests, in soft and hard waters. This study was deemed reliable with restrictions as study was missing some testing information which did not affect the overall conclusion of the test.

Table 1. Summary of Short-term Toxicity to Fish
