Individual Results of the Determination of the Concentration by HPLC
For the determination of the concentration of the test solutions, 1 mL of each test solution was diluted to a volume of 50 mL with acetonitrile/water 50/50 (v/v). The HPLC data of the two solutions (Test solution 1 and Test solution 2) of the test item (HPLC dilution factor 50) are given in Table below.

Individual Results of the Measurement of the Surface Tension
The surface tension values of the two aqueous solutions of the test item were determined.  The measurement was carried out at 20 °C ± 0.5 °C.
A correction factor (Harkins & Jordan) is included.
The age of the test solutions at the beginning of the measurement was 25.0 hours for the Test solution 1 and 25.5 hours for the Test solution 2. The age of the test solution is defined as the period of time from the preparation of the solution to the recording of the surface tension value. The measured data are given in Table below.

Table: Surface tension of test item, technical substance, measured data

Mean σM [mN/m]
60.52   59.42

Mean (experiments 1 and 2): σmean = 59.97 mN/m

Standard deviation: 0.8 mN/m

Relative standard deviation: 1.3 %

The mean value, multiplied by the calibration factor (F=1.0134) results in:
σ = σmean · F = 60.8 mN/m

Final Result

The surface tension of two aqueous solutions of the test item, technical substance, was determined using the OECD harmonized ring method according to the OECD Guideline 115 (1995) and European Commission Council Regulation (EC) No 440/2008, Annex, Part A, method A.5. (2008).
The solubility of the test item in water is below 1 g/L (0.731 g/L in distilled water at 20 °C). According to the OECD Guideline and the EC Regulation saturated solutions were prepared and then diluted to 90 % of the saturation concentration. The concentrations of the two solutions were determined by HPLC analyses
(results: 609 mg/L for Test Solution 1 and 627 mg/L for Test Solution 2). The surface tension of the aqueous solution of the test item, technical substance, was: σ = 60.8 mN/m at 20 °C.
