First-aid measures
Description of first aid measures:
-General advice:
Move out of dangerous area.
Place and transport victim in stable position (lying sideways).
Remove contaminated clothing immediately and dispose of safely.
- Inhalation:
Move to fresh air.
Keep patient warm and at rest.
Call a physician or poison control center immediately.
- Skin contact:
Wash off thoroughly with plenty of soap and water, if available with polyethyleneglycol 400, subsequently rinse with water.
- Eye contact:
Rinse immediately with plenty of water, also under the eyelids, for at least 15 minutes.
Remove contact lenses, if present, after the first 5 minutes, then continue rinsing eye.
Get medical attention if irritation develops and persists.
- Ingestion:
Rinse mouth. Do NOT induce vomiting.
Call a physician or poison control center immediately.
Most important symptoms and effects, both acute and delayed
Symptoms
The following symptoms may occur:, Skin disorders, Itching, Irritation, Redness, Blistering
Indication of any immediate medical attention and special treatment needed:
- Treatment:
Treat symptomatically.
In case of ingestion gastric lavage should be considered in cases of significant ingestions only within the first 2 hours. However, the application of aactivated charcoal and sodium sulphate is always advisable.
There is no specific antidote.
Fire-fighting measures
FIREFIGHTING MEASURES
Extinguishing media
Suitable: Water spray, Dry chemical, Foam
Unsuitable: High volume water jet
Special hazards arising from the substance or mixture: Hazardous decomposition products due to incomplete combustion
Advice for firefighters
Special protective equipment for firefighters: Wear self-contained breathing apparatus and protective suit.
Further information: Keep out of smoke. Fight fire from upwind position. Evacuate personnel to safe areas. Do not allow run-off from fire fighting to enter drains or water courses.
Accidental release measures
Personal precautions, protective equipment and emergency procedures
Precautions: Keep unauthorized people away. Isolate hazard area. Avoid contact with spilled product or contaminated surfaces. Remove all sources of ignition.
Environmental precautions: Do not contaminate surface or ground water by cleaning equipment or disposal of wastes, including equipment wash water. Do not allow to get into surface water, drains and ground water.
Methods and materials for containment and cleaning up
Methods for cleaning up: Dike area to prevent runoff. Collect and transfer the product into a properly labelled and tightly closed container. Clean contaminated floors and objects thoroughly, observing environmental regulations. Decontaminate tools and equipment following cleanup. Soak up with inert absorbent material (e.g. sand, silica gel, acid binder, universal binder, sawdust).
Handling and storage
This substance is handled under Strictly Controlled Conditions in accordance with REACH regulation Article 17(3) for on-site isolated intermediates and, in case the substance is transported to other sites for further processing, the substance should be handled at these sites under the Strictly Controlled Conditions as specified in REACH regulation Article 18(4). Site documentation to support safe handling arrangements including the selection of engineering, administrative and personal protective equipment controls in accordance with risk-based management systems is available at each manufacturing site.
Written confirmation of application of Strictly Controlled Conditions has been received from every affected Distributor and Downstream Processor/User of the Registrant’s intermediate.
Precautions for safe handling
Hygiene measures: Handle in accordance with good industrial hygiene and safety practice. Wash hands thoroughly with soap and water after handling and before eating, drinking, chewing gum, using tobacco, using the toilet or applying cosmetics.
Conditions for safe storage, including any incompatibilities
Requirements for storage areas and containers: Keep containers tightly closed in a dry, cool and well-ventilated place.
