Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Hazard assessment conclusion:
high hazard (no threshold derived)

Additional information - workers

No DNEL can be derived for Katalysator WAZ 5596 B because not data from a repeated dose study are available. Maybe Katalysator WAZ 5596 B (CAS n° 65059-91-8) acts as a potential carcinogenic mixture, but the available data do not allow to reliable identify the threshold.

Local effects:

Due to the positive result of the in-vitro skin irritation test R38 (GHS: skin irritation category 2) is adequate.

In the HCE test Katalysator WAZ 5596 B was an ocular irritant under the conditions of this test method. In the following HET-CAM test Katalysator WAZ 5596 B was identified as "strong irritant" to the chorioallantoic membrane (Irritation Score (IS) = 10) under the conditions of this assay. Therefore a classification as R41 (GHS: eye irritation category Cat 1) is justified.

In a modified Local Lymph Node Assay (IMDS) Katalysator WAZ 5596-B was sensitising (R43 May cause sensitisation by skin contact) GHS: Skin Sens. 1A, H317: May cause an allergic skin reaction.

Therefore the high hazard band according the ECHA guidance document Part E – risk characterization applies and the risk management measures and operational conditions described there should be used

Systemic effects:

alpha-chlorotoluene is classified as Carc. Cat.2 (R45).

Therefore the high hazard band according the ECHA guidance document Part E – risk characterization applies and the risk management measures and operational conditions described there should be used

Overall the high hazard band according the ECHA guidance document Part E – risk characterization applies and the risk management measures and operational conditions described there should be used
