Description of key information

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Skin sensitisation

Endpoint conclusion
Endpoint conclusion:
no adverse effect observed (not sensitising)
Additional information:

Weight of evidence: Experimental results with the substance sodium trichloroacetate and read-across from experimental data on the analogue trichloroacetic acid.

Sodium trichloroacetate: The test method was according to OECD guideline 406. Sodium trichloroacetate does not cause skin sensitization. No changes were observed in the skin of treated animals.

Read-across from trichloroacetic acid: Based on published experimental data on the analogue trichloroacetic acid, which is considered to be not sensitising, and applying the read-across approach, the substance sodium trichloroacetate is also considered to be not sensitising.

Justification for classification or non-classification

Sodium trichloroacetate does not cause skin sensitization. The substance is not classified for skin sensitisation.
