Test 1

In the test at 140 ± 2°C using the container with dimensions 100 x 100 x 100 mm, an exothermic reaction was observed. The test substance temperature exceeded 200°C (i.e. a rise of more than 60°C above the oven temperature). Therefore this test was considered positive. The test substance in the container had changed from a yellow/brown powder into a black/yellow/brown expanded, coagulated residu.

 

Test 2

In the test at 140 ± 2°C using the container with dimensions 25 x 25 x 25 mm, the test substance temperature did not exceed 200°C (i.e. a rise of more than 60°C above the oven temperature). Therefore this test was considered negative. No changes were observed in the appearance of the test substance.

 

Test 3

In the test at 120 ± 2°C using the container with dimensions 100 x 100 x 100 mm, the test substance temperature did not exceed 180°C (i.e. a rise of more than 60°C above the oven temperature). Therefore this test was considered negative. No changes were observed in the appearance of the test substance.

 

Conclusion

The test substance is considered a self-heating substance when tested in a 100 mm sample cube at 140°C.

The self-heating temperature of the test substance was determined by Test 1, Test 2 and Test 3 of the Modified Bowes-Cameron Cage test. Summarized results are given below.
